Sleepy Saturday (AKA Finally, A Blog Post!): A to Z Summer Reading Challenge

As I have been in college for the past year, I have had little to no time to read, especially when I took my philosophy class with the reading load of a graduate class. With the coming summer and a two-week vacation on the horizon, I thought I'd join in on the A to Z Reading Challenge.
Started by Jill Williamson (original post here), basically the challenge is to read 26 books over the course of summer. I decided to accept the challenge and start my list. I'll also include my recommendations for those who want to join the challenge. Q, X, Y, and Z took me a while to find (sigh), but eventually I did. Now let's see if I can accomplish the task of reading 26 books in a few months.

A- Article 5 by Kristen Simmons (dystopian).
B- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne (historical fiction, WWII)
Other recommendations: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (historical fiction, WWII)

C- Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke.
This is a dystopian science fiction classic that my mom's been wanting me to read, so here it is. :)

D- Delirium by Lauren Oliver (dystopian).
Other recommendations: Divergent by Veronica Roth (dystopian)

E- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (dystopian).

F- Fear by Michael Grant (dystopian). The fifth book in the Gone series.
Other recommendations: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (science fiction/dystopian)

G- Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (mystery)
Other recommendations: Gone by Michael Grant (dystopian)

H- The Help by Kathryn Stockett (historical fiction). My mom's been trying to get me to read this for a while now. It's on my Kindle, so I don't have an excuse.
Other recommendations: Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (dystopian)
Harry Potter and the... (meaning any of the seven books) by J.K. Rowling (fantasy)
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom

I- If I Stay by Gayle Forman (contemporary, paranormal)
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

J- (cheating a little with this one) Replication: The Jason Experiment by Jill Williamson
Other recommendations: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brönte

K- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (dystopian).

L- Legend by Marie Lu.
Yet another dystopian.

M- Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky.
A friend requested I read this one, so I thought I'd add it to my list. :)
Other recommendations: Matched by Ally Condie (dystopian)
Maze Runner by James Dashner (dystopian)
Maximum Ride by James Patterson

N- Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell (science fiction/dystopian).

With all the dystopians I read, you'd think I'd have read this classic. Unfortunately, no. I'm going to change that!
Other recommendations: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

O- Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis.
I read this in 8th grade and completely forgot what happened. This is actually my current read-in-progress.
A non-in-progress-read: One Moment by Kristina McBride (contemporary)

P- Partials by Dan Wells (dystopian)

Q- Quicksand by Iris Johansen

R- The Rules of Survival by Nancy Werlin (contemporary)

S- Sever by Lauren Destefano.
Another read-in-progress. This is the third book in the dystopian series The Chemical Gardens, and I'm excited to finally read this.
And I'll add a true S so that this list makes up for my in-progress reads:
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

T- Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone (fantasy)
Other recommendations: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (contemporary fiction)
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

U- Unwholly by Neal Shusterman.
Another dystopian. Can you tell I like this genre? This is the second book in the Unwind series, which deals on the issue of abortion. I highly recommend it.
Other recommendations: Unbroken by Lauren Hillenbrand (historical nonfiction)
Unwind by Neal Shusterman (the first book in the Unwind series)
Uglies by Scott Westerfield (dystopian)

V- V for Vendetta by Alan Moore (dystopian)

W- Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey

Howey did no advertisement, but simply handed out his book and self-published ebook copies and word spread like wildfire. That's pretty impressive, and I've got to see what the hype is about.
Other recommendations: Wither by Lauren DeStefano (dystopian, The Chemical Garden series)

X- Xenocide by Orson Scott Card (dystopian)
But this means I also have to read the second book in this series. So really, I'm doing 27 books.

Y- A Year with C.S. Lewis
This is just a collection of selections from C.S. Lewis's works.

Z- Zoo by James Patterson

And there you have it. :) Good luck in your own reading challenges!
